Yo, Is The Red Light On?

Is it on?  Are we recording?

Though truthfully, this will probably be some solid GoPro footage.
Hope that green jacket is easy to find post-avalanche.

Back To The Loaf

And yet, we ski on.  (Photo credit to Brooks Layman).  (Finding the photos, not taking them (I think)).
What happens when you get backseat?

You get lost!

And descend into the deep woods of Sugarloaf, never to be seen again.

This week's Garmin GPS moment brought to you by Sugarloaf Mountain!

"Recalculating line, please wait!"

Especially confusing.  It seems this man has hiked, but now stands in the middle of the same hairpin
he hiked, but is now missing a ski.  I don't know how this happened, and I don't know
if he's going 0 mph and is pissed off, or if he's going 20 and is about to eat it.  It looks
like he hit that upper hairpin somewhat recently, but we will not be getting to the bottom of
this mystery anytime soon.

More Eastern Ski Racing

I've always said there's nowhere in the world more than Sugarloaf you are more excited to get to, and more excited to leave.
Who's ready for some speed races?

Tuckerman's, get it while it's hot!

It's Too Damn Hot

These pictures sum up the last two weeks of ski racing pretty well...
Michael Ankeny doing what he can at Stowe

Lutsen making sure not a single Minnesotan '96 can say:
"My slalom points aren't from Lutsen."
Please send me pics of any other terrible conditions!

Solid Find From Professor Blackie

Good ol' Professor Blackie showed me this video.. the soundtrack is just a phenomenal choice.  There are some really unexpectedly gnarly crashes.

Paul Stutz at some World Cup.
Outside ski pressure for days.
Yo, are those next year's skis?
Paul hasn't accomplished much this run.  Except maybe, a good shot
to use in a back protector advertisement.

Didier Cuche: Boss Status

After who knows how many years on the World Cup, Didier Cuche retired in fashion earlier today, skiing down the course in the same equipment he wore his very first run on the World Cup.  One of my favorite Didier quotes of all time came when a reporter asked him when he did his ski flip at the finish.  He said: "When I have a good run... which is sometimes.  Or when the people want it.  WHICH IS ALWAYS!"  Congratulations on a great career, Mr. Cuche.
Swag on swag.
Much harder to do than one would expect, actually.

Dual Slalom (Oh, GOOOOOOOOD)

Having Nolan Kasper coming at you skis (SHARP SKIS) up is kind of like having a cat thrown at you.  Not fun.
I'm surprised the Frenchman hasn't surrendered yet.
Maybe dual slalom isn't the safest idea.

Little GMVS kids, stop friending me

As all good things must change and evolve, so have my two famous (in some circles) facebook albums, How To Ski Slalom (AKA Fast and the Furious, Tokyo Drift), and Slalom Aces - 2 DNFast, 2 DNFurious.  I have grown tired of getting friend requests from GMVS kids in the class of 2015, and my Mom wants to see the pictures without having to get a facebook account.  So, thus begins the How To Ski Slalom Like An Ace blog.  JerryOfTheDay, I hope I'm not stealing too much of your thunder.  I feel like I can have the bad ski racing pics, and you can have the pics of everything else that happens on the hill.  There's room for the two of us in the ski racing community.  So without further ado, here are the first few pictures of... HTSSLAA, the blog.

Stupid Freshman.  Nolan Kasper, Dartmouth class of 2020
This is just a full fledged, no excuses, zero points of
contact with the snow turn.
May there be many posts to follow.
